Revaluation

City of Trenton

Project Status (as of January 25, 2017)
As directed by the Mercer County Board of Taxation and as ordered by the State Division of Taxation, the City of Trenton must revalue all taxable real estate for the 2017 tax year to ensure uniform and equitable assessments. The City has contracted with Appraisal Systems, Inc. to conduct the revaluation program.

Regardless of when a property is visited during this program, the new property values will be determined based on their estimated market value as of October 1, 2016 (the statutory date required by law). Once all properties have been valued, property owners will be notified by mail of their proposed new assessed values and given an opportunity to schedule an informal meeting with a representative of the Appraisal firm in order to review their new assessment. Assessment reviews will be finalized by early 2017 and the new assessments will become effective for the 2017 tax year.

Value letters are being mailed beginning January 3, 2017.

Please refer to the information in your letter to arrange a one-on-one meeting with a representative to discuss the proposed 2017 assessment.

Meetings are being held at City Hall. If you elect to schedule a meeting, the time and place of your meeting will be confirmed when scheduling.

If you would like a copy of your property record card (PRC) which contains the information used to determine your proposed assessment, please email trenton@asinj.com with the subject line "PRC request".

Assessment lists will be posted after value letters are mailed.
